Flogging Molly「Within a Mile of Home」とは
どこか懐かしくて、でも新しい。Dropkick Murphys（ドロップキック・マーフィーズ）に並ぶアイリッシュパンクバンドFlogging Molly（フロッギング・モリー）の2004年に発売した3枚目のアルバム「Within a Mile of Home(マイル・オブ・ホーム)」。
プロデューサーはFlogging Mollyの創設メンバーでもあるTed Huttが担当。
フロッギング・モリーといえば、アイリッシュの伝統的な楽器フィドルやバンジョー、アコーディオンを使いつつ、パンクロックを融合させているバンドで、
日本でもかなり人気が高い。
そして何より「ギネスで乾杯」の黒ビールが特徴。
今作「Within a Mile of Home」はよりアイリッシュの楽器が目立ち、とにかく陽気で哀愁があって、
踊りたくなるナンバー。もちろん黒ビールを片手に。
ライブで人気曲「Factory Girls」、代表曲「To Youth (My Sweet Roisin Dubh)」、「Tobacco Island」、トレインスポッティング2を連想させる「The Wrong Company」、セトリの定番になりそうな「Queen Anne’s Revenge」、このアルバムで一番ティン・ホイッスル、ケルト笛が目立つ「The Wanderlust」、アルバムタイトルナンバー「Within a Mile of Home」、屈指のバラード「With a Wonder and a Wild Desire」、終わっちゃうんだね「Don’t Let Me Die Still Wondering」、15曲52分のアイリッシュ旅行の名盤。
